CASE STUDY Starting up
Thirty years ago, MOBO co-founders, Kanya King and Andy Ruffell approached the Surgery’s Creative director, with a groundbreaking vision: to launch an awards show that would finally give black music and urban culture the mainstream recognition it deserved. They needed a visual identity that felt raw, energetic, and completely distinct from the rigid, traditional music establishment. Nick designed the original MOBO logotype to capture that exact shift, bold, modern, and fiercely independent.

CASE STUDY An eye on growth
When Hawk-Eye Innovations met us in August 2015, they had vastly outgrown their original broadcast roots. They were no longer just a ball-tracking tool for cricket; they had scaled globally into a powerhouse across 17 sports. Our challenge at The Surgery was to design a futureproof identity that resonated with B2B sports federations while maintaining massive consumer recognition. We crafted a modern, digital-first look inspired by the sleek arcs of a soaring hawk and a bouncing ball. It was a privilege to deliver a robust brand that truly reflects Hawk-Eye’s precision, growth, and industry leadership.

CASE STUDY Top attraction
When Paramount UK needed a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and employer brand to recruit and retain top-tier media talent in a highly competitive market, we stepped in to bridge the gap between leadership’s vision and the actual employee experience. Through immersive workshops, interviews, and focus groups, we uncovered what truly makes them appealing and why people stay. We built a creative narrative centered around helping talent truly “unleash their potential,” backed by online assets and clear cultural proof points. The result was an award-shortlisted brand that 100% of employees felt proudly showcased Paramount.
